MTV tells viewers: Discrimination sux
MTV has created “Labels”, an anti-discrimination ad on behalf of Red Cross with the message “Discrimination sux”.
Timed to coincide with Refugee Week, which starts on Sunday, the ad was one of 10 ideas developed by MTV staff as part of a company-wide project to come up with creative ideas to communicate anti-discrimination messages to the network’s youth audiences. The majority of the people in the ad are MTV staff.
Credits – ‘Labels’
- Concept: MTV staff
- Director/Producer – Andy Wallace – MTV Creative
- Director of Photography – Brett Brown
- Production Manager – Marina Younger
Love the simplicity of this ad, very effective with a great message.

Reminds me of the anti discrimination ad Adam Hunt controversially made for The Gruen Transfer’s ‘The Pitch’ segment last year…

We’ve all heard these unfortunate stereotypes and I like the fact that the Red Cross is brave enough to put them out there.

I think it’s bizarre the Red Cross has a “discrimination sux” campaign, when they themselves discriminate against men who have sex with men by not letting them donate blood…
Or am I missing something?

This Ad was made by MTV staffers as a part of a Via community day. We were all split into groups from different departments and had 3 hours to come up with a concept and shoot a TVC. This was the winning entry. It was re shot by our creative team.
Amazing work!…Really proud to a MTV er!

As someone who lost a good friend to HIV after he had a blood transfusion James, I really don’t give a toss.
