Panasonic creates GM marketing role to drive consumer electronics brands

Panasonic Australia has promoted Richard Tassone, national channel sales manager, to the new role of GM of marketing for its consumer electronics group.

Paul Reid, director, consumer electronics group, said Tassone has been brought in to provide “strategic leadership” to its product marketing team across all its consumer electronics product categories including its Viera brand, Blu-ray, home theatre, Lumix, air conditioning and home appliances.

Tassone’s vacated role is being filled by Grant Sforcina, previously state sales manager, South Australia.

Sforcina will work with Steve Sutherland, national sales operations manager, to develop sales strategies for Panasonic’s consumer electronics group business nationally.

The appointments are effective April 1.

Meanwhile, Panasonic this year commenced a three-year sponsorship deal with Tennis Australia. The electronics company is the official TV, camera and air conditioning sponsor of Tennis Australia and the Australian Open.

Panasonic is also the worldwide AV equipment partner of the International Olympic Committee.
