Pinterest expands Sydney office with 3 new hires

Pinterest has expanded its Sydney office, with several new hires reflecting the regional branch’s growth across 2020.

The new hires include Ara Ko, as business marketing lead of Australia and New Zealand, Sam Christou, joining as a sales manager and Lottie Laws also joining as a sales manager.

The Australian office was opened in 2019, led by country manager Carin Lee-Skelton, who was in the role unitl March this year.

“Australians are coming to Pinterest to plan what products and services to try next, and advertisers have the unique opportunity to inspire consumers early in their decision-making journey,” said, Erin Elofson Head of the Canada and APAC regions at Pinterest. “Pinterest is a positive and inspiring environment where brands are essential, and we’re excited to hire more talented people to help ANZ businesses thrive and drive sales on the platform.”

Ko joins the Pinterest team with a range of experience leading and working in marketing and brand reputation initiatives. Ko’s most recent role head of incubation, SMB sales at Uber. This will be Pinterest’s first business marketing lead for the ANZ region.

As sales managers, both Laws and Christou will lead the sales team on a range of specialised areas.

Christou will focus on helping businesses in the CPG, auto, restaurants, and entertainment industries connect with their customers on Pinterest. Christou has previously worked in corporate strategy and sales at Nestlé, Google and the Australian Football Federation.

Laws will focus on helping businesses in retail, e-commerce, tech, telco, financial services and government to help them increase their brand awareness and drive sales conversions. Before Pinterest, Lottie led product and sales teams.

Pinterest says it plans to continue expanding its ANZ operations by “approximately 3x to support both businesses and Pinterest users in the region” this year.
