Purpose-driven marketing to be debated at final session of The Big Ideas Store

The relevance and success of brands engaging in purpose-driven marketing will be debated by a group of senior industry leaders in the final session of Nine’s The Big Ideas Store on Thursday afternoon.

Lewis, Dubois and Roach (top L-R) will face off against Gaylor, Gloster and France (bottom L-R)

Brands’ attempts to create meaningful connections with consumers have gained increased attention during the COVID-19 global pandemic and the Black Lives Matter movement.

The participants will be split into two teams arguing whether purpose-driven marketing is engaged in ‘For Love’ or ‘For Money’.

Taking part in the debate on the ‘For Love’ team is Nicola Lewis, chief investment officer Group M; Liana Dubois, director of powered at Nine; and joining from the UK, Tom Roach, executive strategy director of Adam & Eve.

The ‘For Money’ team includes Ryan France, executive director of Kantar; Sunita Gloster, founding partner of Gloster Advisory; and Ebony Gaylor, social designer at the recently launched Decade of Action agency.

The debate will be moderated by Mumbrella’s Damian Francis.
