Revealed: The job application open only to women with just one essential requirement

A new facetious job advertisement is doing the rounds on LinkedIn to mark Equal Pay Day on 19 August.

Posted by VERVE Super, applications have opened for a full-time role that only women can apply for.

The one and only qualification for the job is that the applicants must be female and willing to earn less than a man.

Equal Pay Day marks 50 days into the new financial year in recognition of the fact the average woman would have to work 50 extra days to earn the same amount as a man.

The successfulapplicant’ will be required to work 50 days for free each year in contrast to her male counterpart and must also be available for significant additional responsibilities in the form of caretaking and other housekeeping tasks.

VERVE Super Director Amanda Chase said this clearly represents an extremely average deal for women.

“The purpose of this campaign is to draw attention to the appalling gender pay gap that women are still experiencing and provide the tools to help shift this inequality,” Chase said.

“Women are absolutely fed up with inaction and horrendous pay conditions.

“On Equal Pay Day, we believe it is important to lead with action so we have created this campaign to assist women to raise the issue of gender pay gap with their organisations.”

As well as the gender pay gap, the superannuation savings gap between men and women is an issue that affects the ability of women to retire comfortably, with a 25% difference.

The median balance for those aged 60 to 64 is $211,996 for males and $158,806 for females, an issue in which the gender pay gap is an enormous contributing factor.

VERVE Super has also launched a digital toolkit for workers outlining how to address pay gap concerns with their employer.
