Rove & Sam show isn’t toast, insists 2DayFM

The bosses of 2DayFM’s struggling Rove McManus and Sam Frost show have denied new rumours that the pair are about to be dumped from the Sydney breakfast slot in favour of Bachelor host Osher Gunsberg and former Australian Idol contestant Em Rusciano.

Rove and Sam now to have a national highlights show.

Rove & Sam show is “toast”, claims Sunday Telegraph

Today’s The Sunday Telegraph reported that the Rove & Sam show is “toast”, suggesting it could be moved to the national drivetime slot when current hosts Hamish Blake and Andy Lee’s contract expires. Last week, Nine revealed that Hamish & Andy were developing “a bold and exciting new concept” for the TV network in 2017, increasingly the likelihood they would not renew their national daily show for Southern Cross Austereo’s Hit Network.

In the latest set of radio ratings released three weeks ago, the Rove & Sam show delivered a share of 3.3% of the Sydney breakfast audience – just a third of the 9.9 share enjoyed by Kyle Sandilands and Jackie Henderson who switched from the station to Kiis FM two-and-a-half years ago. The Rove & Sam show began on Hit Nework’s Sydney station 2DayFM at the start of this year.

Gunsberg currently co-presents Hit Network’s Brisbane breakfast show, while Rusciano this evening makes her debut with a Sunday night show for the Hit Network.

2DayFM issued a statement saying: “We’re firmly committed to Rove & Sam as our 2DayFM 104.1 Sydney breakfast hosts – there are no and will be no changes to this line up.”
