Sarah James quits Dentsu Aegis Network to become MD of Initiative Melbourne

Sarah James, the managing director of Dentsu Aegis Network’s bespoke agency dedicated to Woolworths, Woolworths@DAN, has quit after after just seven months.

James is leaving the agency to join IPG Mediabrands’ Initiative as the managing director of its Melbourne operation.

Prior to joining Dentsu Aegis Network James was Carat’s chief digital officer for more than two years.

James’ departure comes just weeks after Henry Tajer was announced as DAN’s new CEO.

Tajer replaced Simon Ryan, who departed the agency in November to join Car Sales as its managing director of commercial.

“I’m really enthused to be bringing my industry and leadership experience to Initiative, which has an outstanding roster of national brands. It is an exciting move to be joining a business with a culture of client focus,” James said in a statement.

In her new role at Initiative, James is replacing Shaun Briggs who departed the agency to join Specsavers to manage the company’s media planning.

Mumbrella understands James will be working alongside Heath Wooster who runs the Bunnings account.
