Vaynermedia has appointed Shaun O’Connor as creative director as the agency continues to strengthen its’ local offering.

O’Connor joins the agency with 15 years of experience leading creative across digital innovation, social, PR, and broadcast. He has worked at agencies including We Are Social, R/GA, Saatchi & Saatchi and DDB, with his work has been recognised at all major international award shows.

Vaynermedia business director Amy Bradshaw said that the growth of the local creative offering, with O’Connor’s appointment, is a natural progression for the agency and that she is delighted to have him join Vaynermedia Australia.

“Shaun is an exceptional creative leader who shares our obsession with creating consumer centric content that is at the forefront of culture. He is someone who uniquely understands our integrated approach to bringing creative, strategy and media together to drive relevance and growth for clients. He will play a key role as we continue to build our expanding presence in the market and guide internal teams to think, create and produce in new and relevant ways,” said Bradshaw.

O’Connor is equally excited about the opportunity to work with VaynerMedia and said he was drawn to the innovative and integrated nature of the agency.

“Creativity on platforms like TikTok is often labelled as trivial little dances… clearly whoever is saying that is not on TikTok – ideas are in abundance, you just have to let your creative guard down a little and move with the audience.

And that’s what VaynerMedia does so well, they get what people love on social media, and they use this as a kind of all in review. Ideas start in social but they don’t stop there, they grow into brand campaigns, activations, and content that people want. That approach might be scary to some, but nothing great comes from feeling comfortable.

That’s why I’m excited to be a part of the Vayner team, working with Amy Bradshaw, Tim Lindley, VJ Anand and the rapidly growing team of creators and clients in Australia,” said O’Connor.

Amy Bradshaw joined the Mumbrellacast last year to discuss her plans to expand Vaynermedia in Australia, after moving to Sydney following posts with the agency in New York and London.
