Simply Energy appoints AJF GrowthOps as its creative and Hardhat as digital experience
Simply Energy has appointed AJF GrowthOps – formerly AJF Partnership – as its creative agency and Hardhat to its digital experience account.
For AJF, the new account follows the promotion of Pieter-Paul von Weiler from head of strategy to GrowthOps’ group chief strategy officer. Earlier this year, Jason Polson was hired as group director of creative and managing director, and then, following a round of redundancies, earlier this month, Polson was announced as the group’s ANZ CEO.

Simply Energy has appointed AJF GrowthOps and Hardhat
This year Hardhat has won the creative account for Tigerair and hired client services director Sarah Tukua and associate creative directors Andy Segal and Chris Hince. Earlier this year Glenn Dalton departed AJF to become executive creative director at Hardhat.
Andrea Bernard, Simply Energy general manager of sales and marketing, said in a statement: “In a commodity market such as energy, we must be focussed on ensuring that our purpose is clear, our proposition for our customers is simple to understand and easy to engage with.
“The team at AJF GrowthOps is helping us communicate our product range and brand positioning with a strong campaign designed to set us apart from our competitors. And we will continue to work with Hardhat to improve our online experience, both for new customers and existing ones.”
AJF GrowthOps chief creative officer, Josh Stephens, praised Simply Energy’s dedication to improving the energy experience for customers.
“We are delighted to be working with Simply Energy. The company’s ambition to make the energy experience simpler and better for all Australians resonates with us and we’re thrilled to be bringing this to life in new and innovative ways,” Stephens said.
Hardhat co-founder Dan Monheit added: “In a market where it’s increasingly difficult for retailers to differentiate on product, price or promotion, the customer’s experience when they interact with the brand online is one of the last big levers left. Simply Energy’s commitment to making this a source of meaningful competitive advantage is both timely and compelling, and we’re excited about partnering with the business to make it happen.”
AJF Partnership was acquired by Trimantium GrowthOps in 2017.
Hopefully GrowthOps stays afloat to see out this contract…

And let’s not kid ourselves about the scale of this win…. not to mention you didn’t win the digital component which doesn’t say much for your combined Growthops capabilities.
