We Are Social appoints Pete Galmes to creative director role
We Are Social is the latest agency to hire a new creative director – following in the footsteps of the 6AM Agency, Alt/Shift and Ogilvy PR.
Pete Galmes – who has previously spent time at DDB Sydney and Saatchi & Saatchi will join We Are Social as creative director in Sydney.
Galmes: Doing creative work in the social sphere a “major drawcard”
The news follows on from the social agency also appointing an editorial director back in October. Suz Tucker now heads up the agency’s team of content directors after moving across from AnalogFolk.
We Are Social’s executive creative director Phil Shearer said the appointment was good for the agency.
“It’s great to have Pete around. He’s consistently done some of the better work coming out of Australia and the fact that he’s joining us means we must be doing something right as well.”
Galmes noted the unique opportunities the role presented: “For me, the opportunity to run creative work in the social sphere for industry leader We Are Social was a major drawcard.”
The agency said Galmes had helped build the social, digital and integrated offering at all his previous agencies, including R/GA, Special Group and Whybin/TBWA, and had won awards for work on the Sydney Opera House, McDonald’s, NRMA and Volkswagen.
Galmes will work with Netflix and Samsung among other creative projects.
