Ten Daily promotes Chris Harrison to editor

Ten has appointed Ten Daily deputy editor, Chris Harrison, editor of the website.

Harrison is the first person to hold the editor’s role, and will assume more of the day-to-day editorial responsibilities from managing editor, Mel Conford.

Harrison has been with Ten Daily since launch last May

Conford was launch editor of the website, which went live in May last year. Since then she has led editorial, commercial and product, as well as day-to-day editorial. Her team also includes executive editor, Lisa Wilkinson, and managing news editor, Sandra Sully. Harrison will continue to report direct to Conford, who is focusing more on strategic, commercial and product responsibilities.

“Chris lives and breathes what 10 Daily is all about and has played a huge role in the site’s continued success since launch. He has been an incredible asset and leader to the team with his creative ideas, sensational headlines and strong editorial acumen. A huge congrats to Chris on this well-deserved promotion,” Conford said.

Harrison, who has previously publisher of Allure Media’s Gizmodo, Lifehacker and Kotaku, said he was looking forward to leading the Ten Daily team.

The past seven months since launch have been the most fun I’ve had in journalism. Super busy but super worth it. We have such a versatile new product with such a brilliant mix of content. We’re serious when we need to be and fun when we don’t. I love the place and the team and am honoured to be leading it with Mel Cornford, whose incredible hard work has made 10 Daily go from strength to strength. Long may it continue.”
