The Monkeys promotes business strategy director Hugh Monro to head of planning

The Monkeys have promoted Hugh Munro to head of planning.

Munro has been with the agency since March 2018 in the role of business strategy director, and has worked on Telstra’s ‘You don’t need the best network until you do’ and CGU Insurance’s ‘ABN Rescue’ campaigns.

Munro has been with The Monkeys since March 2018

Previously he was at BMF, holding the roles of planning director and head of planning. He has also worked at Tongue, McCann and The Campaign Palace.

The Monkeys chief strategy officer, Fabio Buresti, commented: “From his first day in the agency, Hugh has made a huge contribution to the quality of strategic thinking within the team.”

Munro said of his promotion: “Every planner wants to work in a place where clients come for provocative ideas and a tight-knit planning team challenge and support each other’s thinking.”

Recently, The Monkeys won the creative account for Drink Wise, following its work with the organisation at the start of this year’s NRL season.

In November, co-founder and group CEO of The Monkeys, Mark Green, took on the additional role of lead for Accenture Interactive Australia and New Zealand, and co-founders Justin Drape and Scott Nowell also stepped into additional roles as co-chief creative officers for Accenture Interactive Australia and New Zealand, whilst also fulfilling their roles as The Monkeys’ group CCOs.
