The Sphere Agency unveils first work for Bosch
The Sphere Agency has unveiled its first work for German power tools brand Bosch since winning the business from DDB Melbourne in June.
As revealed by Mumbrella last month, the ad – which is the first locally produced spot for the power tools division of Bosch – was directed by Tov Belling, the man behind the camera for Leo Burnett Melbourne’s Cannes grand prix-winning spot for Scope.
The Sphere Agency’s MD Michael Abdul said: “It’s great to be working with such a huge and respected multinational as Bosch, who have a global heritage dating back 125 years and 300,000 employees worldwide. Staying faithful to that heritage was something we constantly kept in mind when developing the campaign.”
The TVC will be supported by print and digital executions across Australia and New Zealand.
Darren Fishman, The Sphere Agency’s creative director, said that the campaign was targeted at men who are “striving for satisfaction in their backyards and sheds each weekend”.
“With Bosch being a premium brand, it was all about being able to push your DIY ability to the limit with Bosch,” he added.
Bosch is among the new clients brought in by The Sphere Agency following the end of its long-standing relationship with Nando’s, which took its account inhouse.

17 seconds of close ups of power tools. I bet Sphere had to fight tooth and nail for those 13 seconds too.
Some agencies do ‘ave ’em.

You gronks from Sphere or what? This is an obvious idea with nothing contributed by the bland production.

I’m not sure what’s worse. The ad, or the desperate attempts of praise by the people involved in making it. On any scale, the best critique you could hope for here is that it’s pedestrian and forgettable. Get off the blogs kids and concentrate on steering your clients towards meaningful work.

Trollolololo – believe it or not the job of advertising is to sell the product. Most of the time that involves showing the product in use. Unlike most of the ads the industry froths over this does a pretty good job of explaining why you should but Bosch. It’ll probably sell some tools – unlike the Old Spice ads you probably loved that needed a 2 for one coupon to drive sales.
