Ultimate Edge Communications hires financial controller

Ultimate Edge Communications – the agency that attracted headlines for a demanding job ad and its CEO’s consequent interview with Mumbrella – has hired a financial controller.

The announcement:

Sydney-based media marketing and communications consultancy Ultimate Edge Communications (UEC) has appointed Kevin Daly to the role of Financial Controller to enhance its financial accountability and transparency for client campaigns.

It’s no secret media and advertising agency clients have been ‘lobbying’ for better accounting and financial controls to be put in place. UEC has been at the forefront with the end-to-end technical integration of its customer relationship, job management and accounting systems.

The next step in the (r)evolution has been to appoint a senior financial controller with the intention of crossing the client ‘divide’ to provide them with transparent financial stakeholder management and support for their campaigns. This requires a considerable amount of practical business experience and knowledge beyond the traditional accounting function.

With over 20 years as a chartered accountant, Kevin has worked in both private practice and for large firms; PKF and Grant Thornton and his extensive rolodex includes a wide range of industries such as trade importers, wholesalers, corporate retailers, event planners, several hospitality titans and now a marketing, media and advertising consultancy.

Mr Daly is quite pleased with the appointment. “Aleisha’s relentless energy is truly inspirational. I’m also excited to join a team I can support with my varied skills and experience to complement their creative process, which is new and bit scary for me. It’s a talented and fun group of people that clearly love what they do. It’s been an interesting challenge to bring my structured approach to UEC’s fluid, flexible and innovative self-organising team model. The most challenging aspect of this role that drew me to UEC is creating a fully customised financial reporting model to provide our clients the transparency and accountability they have been demanding, but has been too hard to provide – until now.”

UEC founder and CEO Aleisha McCall is enthusiastic about Kevin and his role in bringing the business to this next level of client campaign accountability. “Kevin has an expansive wealth of ‘battle-tested’ financial knowledge and experience. What I appreciate is he listens, asks the right questions and makes complex financial concepts simple and most importantly caters to each client’s particular circumstances. His maturity gives our clients the confidence and reassurance they need, knowing we’ve got financial reporting covered.”
