Victoria Bitter releases festive sweaters to mark a ‘hard-earned’ Christmas in July
Victoria Bitter is helping Australians celebrate a ‘hard-earned’ Christmas in July with festive beer-patterned sweaters.
500 sweaters, knitted in Christmas and VB’s shared colours of white, red and green, are now available on the VB website.
Perhaps alluding to the spread of COVID-19 and parodying ‘Santa Claus is coming to town’, VB revealed the sweaters with the line “You can get it working from your house. You can get it isolating with your spouse. Matter of fact, you can get it wearing something grouse.”
VB’s senior lead, Hugh Jellie, said: “It’s been a bloody tough year, and we need to take any opportunity we can get to celebrate with friends and family – whether over Zoom or in the loungeroom. Christmas in July is as good an excuse as any.
“I’m pretty sure these bad sweaters won’t win any design awards.
“But at least you can bring a little cheer to the barbie or fodder for your mates’ banter. Plus you’ll be very warm and Nan will love it.”
The sweaters retail at $80.
Last year to mark The Ashes series in the UK, VB released teabags flavoured with the beer’s super pride hops and black tea leaves.
So, the Ugly Xmas Rashie concept but just more expensive to buy and less practical given the timing of Australian Christmas?
