VMLY&R hires ECD Benjamin Davis and digital director Neil Atkin

VMLY&R Brisbane has hired Benjamin Davis as its executive creative director.

Davis joins after 10 years at McCann, where he was executive creative director in Queensland and associate creative director in Melbourne. In that time, Davis has worked on clients including L’Oreal, Mastercard, the Queensland Government and Queensland Police Service.

Davis said of his appointment: “VMLY&R is the benchmark in the Brisbane market. It’s an honour and privilege to lead the team with [managing director Adam Kennedy]. I’m incredibly passionate about purpose, connection and efficacy in the work I create, and I hope that enthusiasm is infectious. I really do believe that the work we do for our clients can quite literally make the world just a tiny bit better when we put our hearts into every facet of what we do.”

Benjamin Davis joins the Brisbane agency as ECD

VMLY&R has not had an ECD since the 2019 departure of Brendan Greaney. Creative directors Chelsea Parks and Guido Pecego have been leading the department with national CCO Paul Nagy.

Also joining the agency is digital director Neil Atkin. Atkin spent the past four years at BCM as digital director and has held senior digital roles at agencies across Bulgaria, Canada, Costa Rica and the US.

“I’m excited to be joining VMLY&R and be part of what I believe to be the best talent in Queensland,” he said of his appointment.

“I was immediately drawn to VMLY&R’s ethos of placing the customer need at the centre of the experience and building creative and digital experiences around that point.”

Nagy said: “VMLY&R is one of the most successful and effective agencies in Brisbane thanks to the extraordinary work of Adam and his team. I’m so excited to be adding Ben and Neil’s talent and experience into that mix and have high expectations for outstanding work and a seamless collaboration between the creative and digital teams.

“I know together they will form a formidable partnership with the existing team and feel this will be a really exciting time for VMLY&R and its clients in Queensland.”

VMLY&R kicked off 2021 with the merger with Geometry coming into effect. Now known as VMLY&R Commerce the experience agency will be operating as a ‘creative commerce company’ subset of VMLY&R.
