Warner Brothers appoints One Green Bean to help launch new games
Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment Australia has appointed One Green Bean to handle the publicity for its new release computer games.
The agency will work with WBIE to increase reach and awareness across various media channels and reflect the increasingly diversified target consumer demographic of the interactive entertainment industry.
Kat Thomas, One Green Bean’s managing director, said: “Computer games are no longer restricted to teenage bedrooms and so we now need to engage men, women and children of all ages plus parents and even grandparents. Creating talkability amongst all these diverse groups will be a great challenge.”
One Green Bean’s client base includes Virgin Atlantic, Virgin Mobile, Levis, Ikea, Unilever, Cartoon Network, Synergy energy drink, Ferrero and Kimberly Clark.
Will the OGB team manage a different range of games to Howorth (who have previously been managing their agency PR activities)? Or is this a full PR agency shift?

I believe it is a full PR Agency shift. WBIE no longer work with Howorth.

OGB seem to be going gangbusters and winning some great accounts.

I would normally congratulate OGB but not after they approached my friend’s publishing company to do their PR then took 2 months to get back to them without a proposal and only a ‘sorry we don’t have time to work on this’ as an excuse.
So unprofessional. I’ve been on agency side and there is no excuse for this kind of behaviour and now that I am on client side I have will not be inviting OGB to pitch any time soon.

Hi Lou
Kat from OGB here. Sorry to hear this – I don’t think we’ve approached any publishers recently with a view to doing their PR, so I suspect there are some crossed wires somewhere. When we receive new business enquiries, we assess whether we’ve got the right skills, expertise and resource to deliver the best possible results. On occasions we’ll conclude that we’re not best suited to some briefs. I definitely agree 2 months would be an unacceptable length of time to wait for that response! In the past I’ve had conversations with prospective clients that have taken weeks and sometimes months to evolve, so occasionally it does happen, but it tends to be an ongoing dialogue when it does. I’d be happy to talk to your friend to understand their frustrations – please let him/her know she can reach me on 02 8020 1800 or kat@onegreenbean.com.au
Cheers
Kat

Hi The Internetz,
In response to your question, OGB has actually taken the entire PR account from Howorth following a pitch that didn’t include the incumbent.
WBIE tells me that OGB pitched against Splendid PR, Hill & Knowlton and Mark Communications.
The last work Howorth did was at the end of last yr for Lego Rock Band.
Hope that clears things up.
Cheers,
Mumbrella – Camille
