Wavemaker Adelaide MD Royce Zygarlicki departs, joins News Corp

Royce Zygarlicki, Adelaide’s managing director of WPP-owned media and technology agency Wavemaker, will depart the company after almost three years.

He will be replaced by Wavemaker Adelaide’s general manager, Matt Hofmeyer.

Zygarlicki joined Group M almost three years ago

Zygarlicki, formerly Ten Adelaide’s general sales manager, joined what was then known as MEC in 2015.

Late last year two Group M media agencies, MEC and Maxus, merged to create Wavemaker.

Zygarlicki will now be joining News Corp as the Melbourne-based general manager of sales at the Herald & Weekly Times.

Peter Zavecz, News Corp Australia’s managing director, Victorian and Tasmanian Publishing, said Royce was a results-oriented professional with a proven track record in sales across metro and regional TV, digital and media agency management.

“Royce brings to this role a strong work ethic, outstanding relationships and a focus on training, development and staff mentoring,” Zavecz said.

“His appointment comes at a pivotal time for the Herald & Weekly Times as we focus our sales efforts on delivering successful business outcomes for clients across all News Corp Australia platforms.”

His replacement, Hofmeyer, has been with the agency in Adelaide for 12 years and for the past seven year  has been the lead on the South Australian Government account, having played a key role in the account’s retention in 2015 and 2013. He will now take on the role of managing director.

Wavemaker Adelaide GM, Hofmeyer: “I’m excited to be leading the dedicated and talented Wavemaker Adelaide team”

Hofmeyer said: “Wavemaker is passionate about partnering with clients to deliver growth and future success for them, and I’m excited to be leading the dedicated and talented Wavemaker Adelaide team.”

Wavemaker Australia CEO, Peter Vogel, added: “Royce has been instrumental in the agency’s success in Adelaide and the enviable strength of its client relationships. He recently oversaw the smooth transition in Adelaide of MEC to Wavemaker, and we thank him for his passion, hard work and commitment over the years.

“I couldn’t think of a better person than Matt to replace him – as one of our longest standing employees in the Adelaide market, Matt has the experience, ambition and deep understanding of our clients’ business needs to lead Wavemaker Adelaide to greater heights.”
