Yahoo!7 commercial director Damon Scarr to depart

damon_scarr_yahoo_7_headshotSeven West’s joint venture digital arm Yahoo!7 is to lose its commercial director with Damon Scarr moving to Adobe, Mumbrella can reveal.

A Yahoo!7 spokesman confirmed the departure to Mumbrella: “Damon has been with us for eight year, since the inception of the joint venture, he has done amazing job and made an enormous contribution.”

The departure comes days after Seven West Media, which owns 50 per cent of Yahoo!7 in a joint venture with Yahoo, announced a $61.5m writedown in the book value of the digital publisher.

Yahoo!7 said there was no a replacement at the moment but it understood the recruitment process for a replacement has begun.

Scarr was promoted to commercial director of Yahoo!7 in 2011.

UPDATE:  Adobe has now issued a statement confirming appointment of Scarr to the newly created position of Director, Partners, Asia Pacific.

He also managed sales teams across the display, search, listings and comparison affiliate businesses within Australia and New Zealand.

Mr. Scarr will join a team at Adobe which is delivering the world’s only end-to-end digital marketing solution – Adobe Marketing Cloud.

Partners play a crucial role in Adobe’s go to market strategy for enterprise and deliver integrated solutions across a broad range of industry verticals.

Adobe’s Managing Director for Australia and New Zealand, Paul Robson, said Mr. Scarr will be a valuable addition to the Adobe executive team at a time where Adobe is experiencing sustained growth across the Asia Pacific region.
