Amazon Australia appoints TBWA to creative account

Omnicom Group’s TBWA has landed the creative account for online retail giant Amazon.

Just last month TBWA Sydney resigned its place on the Foxtel roster because of a new competitive opportunity which would create a conflict with the Foxtel account.

The appointment comes five months after the former Samsung CMO Arno Lenior joined Amazon Australia as its director of marketing.

TBWA wins Amazon’s creative account

Amazon pitched its creative account in July last year, four months after it began the hunt for an Australian public relations agency..

In November, the online retail giant appointed IPG Mediabrands to its global media account, with the agency setting up an independent entity to service Amazon’s media planning and buying account.

Two months later, Amazon appointed Uber’s head of communications Katie Curran as its head of communications for both Australia and New Zealand.

Amazon officially launched its retail operations in Australia in the first week of December.

TBWA declined to comment while Amazon has been approached for comment.
