Bauer Media’s Fiorella Di Santo resigns

Fiorella Di Santo, Bauer Media’s general manager of publishing for fashion, luxury, food and home, has resigned from the business.

Di Santo first joined Bauer Media as sales boss in 2016, replacing Tony Kendall. Last year, upon the arrival of new CEO Paul Dykzeul, Di Santo was promoted as one of two general managers of publishing, sitting alongside Jayne Ferguson.

Her resignation comes the same week as Bauer Media’s decision to axe iconic brand Cosmopolitan Australia and weeks after Bauer Media would not respond to questions about why Cosmopolitan Bride’s quarterly print edition was missing from newsstands. Mumbrella understands Di Santo’s decision to leave the business was her own.

“I’ve enjoyed my time at Bauer, working on beautiful brands and learning from some of the most creative and talented people in the industry,” said Di Santo.

“Having been involved in the Homes title acquisition from News and part of the team that celebrated key milestones such as Australian House and Garden’s 70th birthday and Harper’s Bazaar’s 20th anniversary has been a real highlight. Now feels like the right time to do other things. I wish the Bauer team every success for the future.”

Di Santo is the latest departure from the business, which has also lost editors including Harper’s Bazaar’s Kellie Hush, Elle’s editor Justine Cullen, and NW and OK editors Lucy Walker and Mark Brandon.

Earlier this year, Bauer Media also restructured its digital team, and ‘centralised’ other magazine titles including Woman’s Day, OK Magazine and NW. It later merged the print and digital teams of Elle and Harper’s Bazaar.

During Di Santo’s time in her new role, she was heavily involved in the acquisition of three of News Corp’s titles: Inside Out, Country Style and Homelife.com.au. The publisher also recently launched a new Women’s Weekly Food website and influencer network.

Paul Dykzeul, CEO ANZ, added: “Fiorella’s contribution to the business in just two-and-a-half years has been considerable. She joined as director of sales and then moved into the role of GM publishing, overseeing luxury, fashion, food and homes.

“In this role, Fiorella was instrumental in the acquisition of both Inside Out and Country Style magazines from News, which now sees Bauer’s Homes portfolio lead in its category. Fiorella will be greatly missed by the team.”
