Cheese on Toast’s SYD2030 wins big in US awards

syd2030Sydney-based production company Cheese on Toast Productions has taken out several awards at the LA Webfest and the Telly Awards for their university drama SYD2030.

The series won awards for Best Ensemble Cast, Best Directing and Best Producing at LA Webfest, which exclusively celebrates original online programming. It also won a Bronze Award for Excellence in Online Television at the US-based Telly Awards.

SYD2030 follows the lives of five Eastern Sydney law students as they try to balance sex, secrets and scandal with a heavy workload.

The self-funded web series was the first to be distributed by ABC iView and has previously taken out Best International Web-series at the LA Film, TV and Webisode Festival last year.

Annika Drew, SYD2030’s art director, said the win should give hope to all industry hopefuls.

“We started Cheese on Toast Productions as five fresh-faced uni graduates without any real budget to speak of. It just goes to show hard work and thinking outside the box can pay off.

“SYD2030 was created by so many amazing people, and we have met so many amazing people on the way, this is a win for us all!”
