Destination NSW hires Tamsyn Alley as general manager communications

Destination NSW has appointed Porter Novelli’s managing director Tamsyn Alley as its general manager of communications.

Alley joined Porter Novelli in 2015 as MD, filling the gap left by Annalise Brown, who was picked up by Bang PR – now Hidden Characters.

Alley has been at Porter Novelli since 2015

Prior to Porter Novelli, in 2014 Alley worked at Tourism Australia for just over one year as its head of global public relations.

It is unclear who will replace Alley as managing director of Porter Novelli.

Porter Novelli has offices in both Sydney and Melbourne with clients including Red Balloon, Aqualand, HP Inc, Doritos and Panasonic.

Alley is expected to start her new role at Destination NSW prior to the Vivid Sydney festival launch.

Sandra Chipchase, Destination NSW CEO, said in a statement: “Tamsyn has an impressive background in destination marketing and tourism content development and has held a number of senior, relevant roles with some of NZ and Australia’s largest companies such as Flight Centre, Stockland and SkyCity Entertainment group.”

Alley said: “The reputation of Destination NSW for exceptional results, innovation in destination marketing, and its outstanding track record of success were what attracted me to the role. I look forward to playing a significant part in ensuring the continued success of Destination NSW.”

The former GM of communications at Destination NSW was Raechelle Inman, who is now head of marketing at Dexus.

Inman departed from Destination NSW in February this year after just 10 months in the role.
