Expect tall TV stories from Hamish & Andy
Last month’s announcement from Nine about signing up Hamish Blake and Andy Lee for a new TV show was splendidly vague, promising only “a bold and exciting new concept”.
However, Dr Mumbo suspect that fans of the Hamish & Andy radio show have been getting quite a big clue about what’s in store.
Recent weeks have seen listeners and social media followers being bombarded with requests to contribute to “The Great Stories Project”.
The effort to solicit contributions certainly seems rather greater than one would expect for a simple new radio segment.
It sounds like it could be an interesting format. And Dr Mumbo suspects that we’ll be watching some of those stories early next year…
Whatever the format they can’t really write so they need something to improvise around or other people to give them ideas. I quite enjoy them on radio but they’ll always be disposable until they spend more time crafting their gags.

This is reason 5,000,001 why they won’t stop doing national radio when they do their TV project. The radio show delivers an audience that they can engage with daily and source new and varied ideas from. It’s a win win for them… and incredibly smart.
Looking forward to seeing what they produce.
