F1 star Mark Webber signs sports marketing group Octagon
Australian Formula One driver Mark Webber has signed Octagon, the Interpublic Group-owned sports marketing and management company, to handle his marketing and commercial representation.
The partnership follows the end Webber’s relationship with his advisor, Geoff Donohue.
Webber is part of the Red Bull racing team. He made his F1 debut in 2002 and last year he became the first Australian to win a F1 race in over 25 years.
After finishing the season in fourth place in the 2009 Drivers’ World Championship, he has recently been presented with two awards at the British Racing Drivers Club Annual Awards for “courage and sportsmanship” and the other for achieving “the most meritorious performances in international motorsport”.
Octagon’s Athletes and Personalities division is a full service representation group. Its Australian clients include Harry Kewell, Allan Border, Andrew Gaze, David Campese and Alicia Molik.
Globally, it also represents athletes and personalities such as US swimmers Michael Phelps and Natalie Coughlin, NBA star Chris Paul and music artists such as Anastasia and Il Divo.
