First National Radio Conference speakers announced

Commercial Radio Australia has announced the lineup of speakers at the first National Radio Conference in Brisbane.

The announcement:

Naked Communications founding partner, Adam Ferrier, and the man behind the successful Hamish & Andy Show, Sam Cavanagh, will speak at the National Radio Conference, to be held on 11 October at the Royal International Convention Centre in Brisbane.

“If Psychologists Ran Radio Stations” is the hypothetical situation to be explored by Adam Ferrier, who will use his background in consumer psychology to develop personality profiles for some of Australia’s prominent radio brands.

Before the conference, content and program directors from leading commercial radio networks will be asked to complete surveys on their brand’s “personality”. The resultant tongue-in-cheek profiles will embrace the principles of behavioural psychology and behavioural economics and offer a different slant on how a radio brand might be programmed based on its personality.

Sam Cavanagh, who went from producing the top rating Hamish & Andy Show to his current position as Southern Cross Austereo’s National Executive Producer, will provide unique insights into the development and success of Australia’s biggest radio brand.

His internationally acclaimed presentation, “Fans Not Listeners”, provides an overview changes in the way audiences consume content and how some of the most successful shows are pushing content across multiple platforms. Three-time Australian Commercial Radio Award winner for Best Show Producer, Sam Cavanagh will talk about radio brands getting closer to their audiences and encouraging greater involvement in what they do.

Commercial Radio Australia chief executive, Joan Warner, said: “We are excited to have both Adam Ferrier and Sam Cavanagh speak at the National Radio Conference this year. Both are passionate and engaging speakers with innovative and interesting ideas.”

The National Radio Conference will be staged this year in Brisbane, the day before the 25th annual Australian Commercial Radio Awards. Further speakers will be announced in the coming weeks.
