August 1, 2011 –

Three of Australia’s most talented graffiti artists will undertake a tri-state street art war, vying to have their design grace the most sought after t-shirt this coming summer, the SLURPEE Tee.

Back by popular demand, 7-Eleven Australia has today announced plans to reinvigorate its SLURPEE Tee which will be available in stores from 2 January, 2012.

The best-of-the-best street artists from Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane have been selected to go head-to-head in the SLURPEE Tee design war, with the public having the final say on the design that will appear on the SLURPEE Tee.

7-Eleven‟s chief Slurpologist, Lalena King, said that the SLURPEE brand belongs to everyday people on the street, which spurred the choice to engage street artists to create designs that SLURPEE fans could then vote on via the SLURPEE Australia Facebook Fanpage.

“We want to share every aspect of the SLURPEE Tee experience with our fans, so that the end result is a design that they really love and feel proud wearing.

“SLURPEE is a cheeky, irreverent brand that we‟re always having fun with. Now we’re challenging street artists to do the same with their designs for SLURPEE Tee,” Lalena said.

The selected street artists Monkey (Vic), Deb (NSW) and *Lucks (Qld) will complete their SLURPEE inspired design at their local 7-Eleven store, with the public encouraged to watch live as their design is brought to life.

Video footage from the street artists piecing their designs will be uploaded to the SLURPEE Australia Fanpage for fans to view and place a vote on their favourite design. Each day one voter will win a serial Slurper card which gives them a months free Slurpee.

Voting is open from 19 September – 2 October 2011, with one voter winning the major prize; a street art workshop with the winning designer.

The design with the most votes will then appear on the SLURPEE Tee, available to purchase at 7-Eleven stores in guys and girls cuts from 2 January 2012.

With its street art roots and the stewardship of the Facebook community, SLURPEE Tee is a project for the people and by the people, giving all SLURPEE lovers the chance to wear their art on their sleeve.
