Ten statistics to mark 500 days of Mumbrella
Today marks 500 days of Mumbrella. I thought I’d share a few numbers.
- We’ve posted 3,619 items
- We’ve had 24,743 comments
- Our first named comment came from Bannerblog’s Ashley Ringrose.
- We’ve had 4.5m page views
- We’ve had 2.4m visits
- We’ve 10,283 followers on Twitter
- We’re number 28 in AdAge’s ranking of more than 1000 global marketing blogs
- Google has indexed the word Mumbrella 45,800 times
- We have 14,831 subscribers to our free daily email
- Our two YouTube channels – MumbrellaAus and TheMumboReport – have had their videos viewed a total of 511,236 times
On the day I launched Mumbrella, I wrote this:
“But one thing I’ve noticed is that whenever you go to a newish blog, the first posting is invariably rubbish. It usually makes a lame promise about what it’s going to be (invariably controversial and hard-hitting), and how often it will be updated (frequently). The original promise is very rarely kept. Often the site looks like the author never went back.
“So there will be no such grandiose claims here.”
Hopefully I didn’t over-promise too wildly.
Thanks for reading.

Happy 500th Tim! It’s a shame you don’t auto-refresh as you would have been up to your 5,000th by now!

Wait, auto-refresh speeds up time by a factor of 10x?

Hey Tim
congratulations on your anniversary – I’ve worked on several advertising and marketing media titles and I think you’ve served up a lot of great content across all the right platforms – impressive results given your resources
Maybe we should be catching up for champagne rather than coffee?
Cheers! CJ 🙂

Well done Tim. You’ve made your mark on the Aussie media industry … but it’s OK, I will drop it into the dry-cleaners on the way home.

This is great stuff, and it’s great to read a blog devoid of the usual trench-wars elsewhere.
A couple of things I’ve noticed that may be better discussed in another thread but:
You haven’t registered mumbrella.com yet (it’s only cheap!) and this interesting article:
http://www.smh.com.au/technolo.....-tlwh.html
I wonder if this sets a precedent for social media campaigns where companies can be held liable if somebody posts a nasty or defamatory comment on their youtube video / facebook page / blog?
Interesting times ahead, seems the onus is now on the site holder rather than the individual.
