News Corp promotes Sharb Farjami and Bettina Brown amid departures from sales operation
News Corp has announced a restructure of its sales operations in the wake of last month’s departure of sales boss Fiorella Di Santo.
The restructure sees the departure of the director national customer solutions Carl Colman and Jane Serember, general manager sales – director sports central, with national sales director Sharb Farjami assuming much of Colman’s responsibilities in a newly expanded role.
Under the shake-up Bettina Brown, general manager, retail & media will also take on additional responsibility for trade marketing.
“These appointments are an important step in enhancing our advertising sales teams’ connection with our customers,” interim sales boss Damien Eales said in a statement. “They will align customer solutions resources closer to front line sellers and closer to our customers.
“They will also deliver better alignment between our trade marketing and the broader marketing capability we have developed in recent years.”
Eales added that the restructure would also see the creation of a new advertising sales services director role who “will steer a consolidated operational service team”.
An executive search for the position is underway.
All three new roles will report to Eales, with News Corp today confirming his appointment is still on an interim basis.

This seems a very definite move from a ‘caretaker’. Why would you get rid of seasoned sales professionals the calibre of Fiorella, Jane and Carl. Yet another bizarre move from News….

This move has been on the cards for awhile. Sharb is ok, dont know how he will go with his old Group M counterparts. Good luck regardless.

Another bold move at News. I’d like to add the collective experience of Jane, Fiorella and other recently departed, would be some sort of number. One wonders what the major clients, particularly the big retail guys, think of this – shuffling deck chairs on the old Titanic methinks.
Good luck to Sharb and whoever that other person is, they’re going to need more than luck, sadly they ain’t got experience to fall back on, the halcyon days of News are past.
