OMD appoints Nicholas Chin as head of digital in Sydney

OMD has hired Nicholas Chin as head of digital Sydney, effective 6 January.

Chin joins from Media Lab where he was head of technology and digital media delivery. He spent over three years at the agency, starting out in 2016 as director of activation and partnerships for Westpac, and was later elevated to group director for digital media investment, data and technology.

Nicholas Chin has joined OMD from Media Lab.

Previously, Chin was a senior digital manager for Woolworths at Carat Australia.

In his new role, Chin will be reporting into chief digital officer Sian Whitnall. He will be responsible for OMD’s digital, data and technology offering in Sydney and lead the creation of marketing transformation strategies for clients.

Chin said of his appointment: “OMD has incredible momentum at the moment. They are setting the pace in the market, having the hard conversations and driving the change that the industry needs. The chance to join this talented team is a unique opportunity and I’m very excited to come on board to do some great work with their impressive range of partners”.

Whitnall commented on Chin’s credentials: “We are thrilled to have Nick joining the OMD Sydney team. He is a respected digital leader with proven credentials in enabling brands to maximise their data and technology investments. His experience will further strengthen the capability within our Sydney team, acting as a critical part of the further evolution of our agency product and he will continue to drive performance for our clients and OMD with integrity.”

In March this year, OMD restructured the leadership team of its Sydney office, promoting Kim Hamilton and hiring Laura Nice as joint managing directors, and promoting Nathan Young to national COO.

This year OMD has won the media accounts for Super Retail Group, Suncorp, Asahi and Sealy.
