Open Colleges appoints The Monkeys as lead creative
Open Colleges has appointed The Monkeys as its lead creative agency.
The agency’s first piece of work for the online learning business launches this week, with a message to prospective students – ‘Everything could happen’.
Open Colleges fills the hole in The Monkey’s client list left by the University of Sydney, which shifted its creative to M&C Saatchi in January. It is also the latest in a series of account wins for the agency, beginning with Drink Wise in December last year, and including the Australian Grand Prix Corporation, Tourism Western Australia and Rebel.
The campaign celebrates Open Colleges’ 125 years in education and challenges Australians to turn their potential and ambitions into a reality.
Open Colleges executive general manager – customer experience, Jeff Lim, praised The Monkeys and the campaign.
“Our new agency partner The Monkeys recognises that when students are starting out, it’s easy for them to be overcome by the range of possibilities ahead. The agency has created an effective campaign to let all Australians know we’re here to support and guide them along their educational journey,” Lim said.
The Monkeys Group CEO and co-founder, Mark Green, said: “We are excited to partner with Australia’s original distance educator to help get the message out to all Australians that online study is a valuable and flexible option for those seeking to up-skill and improve their career opportunities.”
Last week, The Monkeys hired Thomas Marcusson as creative director.

Message to agencies:
I so wish agencies wouldn’t present manifesto’s when pitching for the business as the clients simply cannot resist making them into the final TVC’s.
Message to Open Uni’s:
Manifesto’s are done to bring the strategy to life and are not ads. So your commercial ends up looking like every other ‘manifesto ad’ out there. It’s not different or unique and I yawn every time I see them.
PS: at least it’s better than the wobbly-headed girl in your current ads.
