Penultimate Bachelorette episode cracks 1.1m metro viewers
The penultimate episode of Ten’s The Bachelorette averaged more than 1.1m metro viewers last night, according to OzTAM’s overnight preliminary ratings.
The ratings for the show, featuring former musician Sophie Monk’s search for love, were the best for any non finale episode of the franchise since it has been on air.
The final episode of the series airs tonight.
Last Thursday the show attracted its biggest audience of the season with 1.019m, but with Nine’s The Block not running last night, the audience for The Bachelorette grew to 1.180m metro viewers.
It was the highest rating show of Wednesday night and topped the key advertising demographics – 16-39s, 18-49s and 25-54s.
Meanwhile, Ten’s premiere of comedy drama Sisters attracted 624,000 metro viewers.
Sisters tells the story of Julia Bechly, whose life is turned upside when her father makes a confession he used his own sperm during his career as a fertility specialist.
It placed second across the key ad demographics.
But the premiere wasn’t enough to beat ABC’s Gruen, which attracted 849,000 metro viewers.
In the 7:30pm slot with The Bachelorette was Nine’s repeat of 20 to one, which averaged 382,000 and Seven’s Grand Tour, which collected a metro audience of 439,000.
Seven won the news battle last night with a metro audience of 957,000 tuning in at 6pm to the news, ahead of Nine News’ 854,000.
Thanks to The Bachelorette and Sisters, Ten won the average audience shares 20.5% defeating Seven’s share of 16.3% and Nine’s share of 15.3%.
ABC and SBS reported average audience shares of 14.7% and 4.3% respectively.
