Shameful crowd behaviour, as sponsored by Mastercard
Dr Mumbo imagines there may be some anguished meetings in the marketing department of Mastercard this morning. If they’re not all in Melbourne enjoying the tennis, that is.
This mornings’s news coverage is full of discussion about disruptive crowd behaviour in last night’s Nick Kyrgios match in the Australian Open.
Which makes it something of a less-than-perfect moment to launch an ad encouraging rowdy crowd behaviour.
Who could possibly have thought that would go wrong?
I would be way happier if there were ‘anguised meetings’ at Mumbrella to discuss why you continue with this snide Dr Mumbo crap.

The timing may be slightly off, but the ad itself is quite tame. Bit of a non issue here, Dr Mumbo.

Nobody is making the connection between the selfie pest/helicopter and Mastercard campaign, and i am sure their actions were not inspired by mastercard… beat-up

Players seem to quite like it. From today’s Guardian:
“It’s the best feeling ever, the adrenalin, the extra boost, the support you get from the very passionate Australian Open crowd is amazing,” Ashleigh Barty

Hmmm one guy who is a comedy influencer tried to take over game…. wow talk about poor connection. I’m a tennis fan and that’s poor form on Aussie fans.
Slow news day…
Head to the tennis Mumbrella.

The real question is why are tennis players, golfers (and snooker sharks) so bloody precious that they need silence when they play?

‘comedy influencer’ is possibly the worst term I’ve ever heard
