Travel insurance company’s social media campaign and giveaway

Travel insurance provider Cover More has launched voting-based social media campaign to send one of their clients to various destinations around the world. They’re also giving away iPad’s for voters.

The announcement:

Australia’s leading provider of travel insurance and emergency assistance, Cover-More, has launched ‘Dan Does…’ a social media campaign that will see its Facebook followers choose the destination and adventures Dan Moore, a Cover-More policyholder, encounters on a two week overseas adventure.

Via Facebook, Australians will have the power to vote for one of three international destinations Moore will fly to: Sri Lanka, Peru or Nepal. Regular updates will allow Cover-More followers to vote on different activities Moore must complete – from hiking up a volcano to surfing the longest wave in the world. Moore will post daily updates, photos and videos on Facebook and YouTube.

Everyone who votes for ‘Dan Does…’ goes into the draw to win one of 11 iPad minis.

Cover-More Social Media Manager, Lynton Manuel said: “‘Dan Does…’ gives something back to our Facebook friends. We are focussed on creating interesting content that engages people and shows the amazing adventures travel can provide.

“Dan will update us with posts, photos or videos every day, regaling our followers with tales of his latest antics. The added bonus is that voters go into the draw to win one of 11 iPad minis we’ll be giving away.”

‘Dan does…’ launched on Friday 8 March with Facebook friends voting first on where Dan should fly to for his adventure. Voting closes this Wednesday 13 March, the winning destination will be announced that evening and Moore departs Australia on Saturday 16 March.

On his upcoming adventure, Dan Moore said: “I love travel. I was obviously stoked to win Cover-More’s Essence of Travel photo competition, but I’m even more excited about what’s ahead in the next couple of weeks. I’m looking forward to discovering one of the three destinations on the list and showing fellow Aussies the extreme adventures and experiences you can have when you embrace everything a country has to offer.”

Moore won Cover-More’s ‘Essence of Travel’ photo competition in December 2012. Cover-More Facebook friends voted on the finalist photos that Cover-More policyholders and Facebook friends had submitted. Each photo captured the most memorable moment from a trip. The photos were then independently judged and Moore took out first place, winning a $2000 travel voucher.
