Cuts at Dentsu amid continued restructure

Dentsu Creative has made a small number of redundancies in recent weeks as it continues to reshape its business, Mumbrella can reveal.

A Dentsu spokesperson told Mumbrella: “We are responding to the changing needs of our clients and adjusting our capabilities for today and tomorrow. We are continuing to invest in our Creative business and have a number of new roles in market. Out of respect, we will not be commenting any further.”

Dentsu confirms readjustments

Mumbrella understands the figure is less than 10.

The Japanese holding group brought all of its creative capabilities under one roof in June last year, creating Dentsu Creative, with Kirsty Muddle at the helm locally.

Since then the business has seen an ongoing repositioning, including making senior hires the likes of Gabriel Tamborini as chief experience and product officer, Cate Stuart Robertson as chief client officer and Avish Gordhan and Mandie van der Merwe as its first chief creative officers.

Dentsu Creative follows a growing list of Australian creative agencies to make readjustments during recent months of unstable economic conditions. Those include  Clemenger BBDO Australia and CHEP Network, Ogilvy, M&C SaatchiCummins&PartnersAJF Partnership, The Royals, and Paper Moose and It’s Friday, as reported this week.

It is understood there were no cuts on the media side of the business.
