Foxtel’s Sharb Farjami joins News Corp’s Storyful

Sharb Farjami, Foxtel’s director of content commercialisation, is set to depart after 10 months in his role to join News Corporation’s Storyful as its New York based chief executive officer.

Farjami joined Foxtel after a two and a half years at News Corp, including six months as chief commercial officer.

Farjami joined Foxtel 10 months ago.

At the time, Farjami said he left News Corp, which partly owns Foxtel, to “pursue a new career direction.”

During his time with Foxtel, Farjami worked with Deanne Weir, Foxtel’s appointed managing director of content aggregation and wholesale, to create new revenue streams for Foxtel and its content partners.

He also worked closely with advertising partner MCN.

Prior to News Corp, Farjami worked as chief operating officer for three years at media agency Mindshare, as well as Ignite Media Brands and MTV.

Despite relocating to New York, it has been reported Farjami will be available to advise the broadcaster with its advertising opportunities.

At the same time, he will help grow Storyful’s revenue and expand the business.

Storyful is News Corp’s content aggregation service, which helps newsrooms source, verify and distribute news and online content.

The business is described as the “leading social news, insights and video company”, which combines technology with journalism.

News Corp has helped the start-up expand globally, with offices now in Dublin, Sydney, New York, London and Hong Kong.
