Hamish Blake wins Gold Logie as ABC is top network
Nine comedian Hamish Blake has won the Gold Logie for Most Popular Personality at the 54th TV Week Logie Awards.
However, public broadcaster the ABC won the most awards, followed by Nine, Seven and Ten.
Blake pipped fellow nominees Adam Hills, Asher Keddie, Karl Stevanovic, Carrie Bickmore and Esther Anderson to the top gong.
Blake’s win was leaked online by The Herald Sun about an hour before the presentation of the Gold Logie and was a spoiler for the room. However Ten’s Breakfast reports Blake maintained he didn’t know before the announcement was made.
Across the networks, the ABC came out on top with six and a shared award – the shared coming from Asher Keddie’s Most Popular Actress win for her work in both the ABC’s Paper Giants: The Birth of Cleo and Ten’s Offspring.
The ABC also won the most outstanding drama series, miniseries or tele movie for The Slap.
Host network Nine received six wins including most outstanding news coverage for the Queensland Floods and most popular light entertainment program for Hamish and Andy’s Gap Year, as well as Blake’s Gold win.
Seven took five awards including most popular drama series for Packed to the Rafters, winning this for the fourth year in a row.
Ten took two and a shared award, including most popular factual program for Bondi Rescue, the show’s fifth win since 2007, most popular sports program for the 2011 AFL Grand Final and Keddie’s other half for Offspring.
SBS took just one award, for the most outstanding factual program in Go Back To Where You Came From.
While Foxtel programs Cloudstreet, Killing Time, Selling Houses Austalia Extreme, Nickelodeon, Tony Robinson Explores Australia and Sky News National were nominated, but none won an award.
The ceremony also saw music presenter Ian Molly Meldrum entered into the Logie Hall of Fame with words from Elton John. Meldrum was not at the ceremony due to an accident he suffered late last year.
The ceremony included musical performances by Flo Rida, Tony Bennett, boy band One Direction and both Delta Goodrem, and Seal, judges on The Voice, which premiered before the ceremony.

The Logies … does anyone, except those self-centred souls in the back-to-the-future television iindustry, give a rat’s? Using a not very reliable memory where it comes to such dross, wasn’t the Hamish and Andy thingo a ratings disaster? Seems appropriate one of them should win the Gold Logie. Some okay drama and public affairs but the rest …there’s just so many times you can watch a Japanese shop girl or English larger lout think they’re about to drown in knee deep water at Bondi.

I guess to win the Gold Logie you need to have a rubbish tv show that no one watches or cares about because quite simply, it’s crap. Didn’t Hamish & Andy’s show get out rated by re-runs of the Golden Girls??? Don’t know how or why people think these guys are talented.

I’m more concerned that the most popular factual program is Bondi Rescue. Seriously?

Evan, I agree wih you completely. A show that is a ratings disaster and the guy with strange eyes wins. Logies have lost all credibility once Bert stopped announcing the gold logie winner. it seems anyone who has been on tv five minutes can win. next year it might be Manu? or Hayley Lewis,Mel B(scary!!)Before any responses, know that I jest!!!!
Better than Karl winning back to back I suppose!!!

Where did this myth come from that Hamish & Andy’s show was a ratings disaster and a crap show? It just wasn’t either of these. And no I am not from Channel 9, nor do I have any interest in Ch 9 or even like Ch 9.
The guy is on television and therefore eligible, so get over it. People who profess not to have any interest in the Logies and rubbish it at every turn sure do get whingey when the results aren’t what they want!!

How could Hamish win????? His show, and his little mate are of talentless. Their show is crap. They aren’t funny – just silly. I reckon if Graham Kennedy was alive he would give back ALL his Logies in a deeply depressed protest.

“Go back to where you came from” Television as it should be – congratulations to the people involved.
Its now obvious that mainstream Australia has lost interest in the crap that is spat out daily on 9 and 7…it opens the door for 10 to be ahead of the pack, why not create a public affairs show that leans (even just a little bit?) to the left, you know it makes sense, there is a reason all those greenies are in government.

If Hamish can win a logie so can I,and I can’t act . Unbelievable what a load of rubbish. They are not even funny, who votes for these people? Most of votes through internet,so the older generation wouldn’t have the opportinity to vote for a real actor.
