Tibetan monks singing Tubular Bells draws almost 500,000 views in two days
A cover of Mike Oldfield’s Tubular Bells performed by Gyuto Monks in Bondi has drawn almost half-a-million views on YouTube in just two days.
The video, created by Lava Communications, is aimed at promoting the Monks’ upcoming performances at the Bondi Pavilion from April 11-26, 2016.
The video combined the famous Oldfield music track from the 70’s, Tubular Bells, with the chanting Monks and even levitation (via CGI) to illustrate “the levels of enlightenment” people can experience when seeing the Gyuto Monks.

I am ‘older’ and somewhat new to you tube; I was turned on to Oldfield and that style of music in 84′; back when your cynical commenters were probably just being born; But had I known of this parody two years ago, I probably would have watched 5-10 times in the first couple of days. . . like I have just now. I like the video, and love that piece by Oldfield – I’ll bet their are a lot of people like me, albeit more savvy, to justify the 500K number.
