Spectrum Group has appointed former AFR journalist Brian Corrigan as content director. Corrigan’s role will see him create content strategies for clients across both the Max Australia and Spectrum Communications businesses.

The announcement:

SYDNEY, Australia – 25 March 2014: Spectrum Group has today announced it will offer strategic content services under the direction of former Australian Financial Review journalist, Brian Corrigan.

Corrigan’s appointment as Content Director is the latest phase of the Group’s evolution into a ‘next gen’ agency, capable of servicing the growing demand among clients for integrated content, creative and social.

Content marketing is used by 93 per cent of Australian marketers, according to research produced by the Content Marketing Institute, with brand awareness, engagement and lead generation cited as the most common reasons for investment. Yet only half (52 per cent) of survey respondents said they had a documented strategy in place. Corrigan will be tasked with bridging this gap.

Reporting to Group Business Director Aaron Crowther, Corrigan will help create and execute content strategies for clients across both the Max Australia and Spectrum Communications businesses. This will include executive enablement, thought leadership and messaging development strategies for internal and external communications programs. It will encompass speeches, white papers, case studies, blogs, videos and infographics.

“Content is driving marketing return. It has become the lynchpin of internal and external stakeholder engagement,” Crowther said. “The ability to create quality content for clients, and align it to their business strategies, is what will make the agencies of tomorrow stand out from those we see in the market today.

“Spectrum Communications and Max Australia will continue to innovate in order to stay ahead of the industry for the benefit of their clients.”

Corrigan has been writing about the technology industry for more than a decade, most recently as a senior reporter with The Australian Financial Review. He previously edited MIS, a monthly publication aimed at chief information officers, and IDG Communications’ industry title ARN.

During his time as a journalist and editor he has built detailed knowledge of the technology industry, including its competitive landscape and key marketing trends, an extensive range of contacts, and the ability to communicate messages clearly to a variety of different audiences.

“This is an incredibly exciting opportunity for me at a time of great change in the PR industry,” Corrigan said. “The demand for quality content has never been higher and we have an increasingly important role to play in helping clients tell their stories effectively.”

Corrigan’s team will support the Group’s existing clients and new business opportunities. His appointment follows Spectrum Group’s expansion into Asia with the opening of a Singapore office in November 2013.
