Asahi appoints The Monkeys Melbourne as creative lead

The Monkeys Melbourne have won the lead creative account for Asahi Premium Beverages which includes brands such as Asahi Super Dry, Cricketers Arms and Mountain Goat.

Asahi pitched its creative and public relations account in November last year after appointing incumbent agency Cummins & Partners in 2012.

Paul McMillan – who was named the CEO of The Monkeys Melbourne in August last year – said: “Asahi marks a great win for The Monkeys and the Melbourne team can’t wait to get started.”

The account marks the fourth win for The Monkeys’ Melbourne operation after securing Holden’s SUV account in August, Crownbet and Australia Post in September.

Michael Edmonds, Asahi Premium Beverages general manager for Australia and New Zealand, said The Monkeys have had great previous experience with other beer brands.

“The Monkeys are a great agency, we love their work and the new team in Melbourne come with some awesome beer experience. We cannot wait to see what they can do with our brands.”

Asahi’s brands include Schweppes, Nikka Whisky, Somersby, Woodstock, Kingfisher, Mountain Goat and Vodka Cruiser.
