Ferrero indulges iProspect with sweet media account win

Ferrero has appointed Dentsu’s iProspect as its media agency of record in Australia following a competitive pitch process, Mumbrella can reveal.

The account covers Ferrero’s locally in-market brands Ferrero Rocher, Kinder, Nutella and Tic, and is understood to valued in the ballpark of $17-20 million.

Dentsu declined to comment on the win, however it is understood the appointment is effective as of 1 January 2024 for a contract of three years.

Mumbrella understands incumbent MSix declined to participate in the pitching process when it commenced as part of a global review earlier this year.

The agency, which is a join venture between WPP’s GroupM and independent agency network The&Partnership, won the account for two contract terms in 2019, following Ferrero’s ten-year stint with Omnicom’s PHD.

GroupM declined to comment on its decision to refrain from the pitch.

iProspect’s appointment appears part of a global alignment for Ferrero, with Dentsu understood to increased its footprint on the account with wins in multiple markets. However, the specific of these wins are yet to be confirmed.

Previously, the Japanese holding company’s remit included Germany, Japan, South Korea and Mexico, according to Campaign, while Publicis held Italy, China and the UK.

Locally, the appointment is a significant win for iProspect, coming five months after Havas Media’s Nick Kavanagh joined the “end-to-end” media agency as chief strategy officer.

Ferrero declined to comment.
