‘Australian agency in India’ GooRoo launches offering creative production at half the cost
Creative agency GooRoo Advertising has opened doors in Sydney and Brisbane and is promising clients creative work at half the cost of other agencies thanks to having a production studio in India.
Rod Vallis and Peter Jacobsen, two former Ogilvy Bangalore creative directors, have launched the ad agency which it is positioning as “The Australian agency in India”.
The new agency has launched with offices in Sydney and Brisbane and a production studio in Bangalore that offers high-volume creative at around 50 per cent of the cost of other agencies, according to a press release from the company.
The Indian operation is being headed up by creative partner Gautam Dev, who worked with Vallis and Jacobsen in 2004, when he was the creative director for IBM India at Ogilvy in Bangalore.
Vallis, who like Jacobsen has 20 years experience in advertising and has worked with businesses in India since 2002, said that creative production offshoring has increased in recent years, but with mixed results and transparency issues.
“We’ve been there from the beginning and have seen the challenges agencies have faced in building an offshore operation that produces quality work and is viable,” he said.
“Over the years we’ve learnt a lot helping big international brands grow their business and save money through offshoring. We decided it was time to help Australian brands do the same,” he said.
“One of the biggest issues we’re seeing is a lack of transparency. We’re hearing that some agencies are sending production offshore without necessarily informing their clients. We’re upfront about it as we see it as one of our main competitive advantages,” said Vallis.
Vallis moved to Bangalore in 2007 as the founding worldwide creative director for Lenovo, at Ogilvy Worldwide, helping to set up the first global brand agency headquartered in India.
He said: “Our point of difference is that we offer an extremely cost-effective rollout of your campaign assets. And sure, most agencies are now offshoring to cut costs, but we don’t have offshore partners, we have our own studio so we can ensure a better outcome than the agency networks.”
“If you turn over high volumes of creative assets and think offshoring your creative production could help you make dramatic savings but are concerned about maintaining quality and control, GooRoo was founded for you,“ he said.

Or they could look at talented people working regionally for the same cost… and keep Aussie people in Production working. Thats terrible.

Here we go…
Another industry in Australia about to turn to mud.
I like Gary’s idea, if they want to produce for less to compete.
