Caltex parts ways with Leo Burnett, hands creative duties to Saatchi & Saatchi

Caltex has appointed Saatchi & Saatchi as its new creative agency of record, keeping its account within Publicis Group, Mumbrella can reveal.

Saatchis’ win comes after a competitive pitch, marking the end of an eight-year relationship between Caltex and Leo Burnett.

Caltex first appointed Leo Burnett in 2009, when it parted ways with longstanding partner GPY&R.

In its time on the Caltex account, Leo Burnett worked on campaigns including Caltex’s brand campaign ‘With you all the way,’ in 2014.

Peter Bosilkovski, CEO of Leo Burnett Sydney told Mumbrella: “We are incredibly proud of the work we have created with Caltex over the past 8 years. We declined to take part in the recent pitch and we wish Caltex every success in the future.”

The separation with Caltex comes one month after McDonald’s consolidated its creative account with DDB, ending a 12-year local relationship with Leo Burnett.

It also follows Publicis’ announcement of Michael Rebelo as CEO of Publicis Communications GroupSaatchi & Saatchi’s Mike Spirkovski becoming national chief creative officer, and Sesh Moodley’s appointment as the agency’s executive creative director.

Saatchi & Saatchi’s clients include Toyota, Ladbrokes and more recently, Jim Beam.

Caltex confirmed the new appointment and Saatchi & Saatchi declined to comment.
