Outgoing Chep Network chief strategist joins Howatson and Co

Lilian Sor has been scooped up by Howatson and Company following her departure from Chep Network, now part of Clemenger BBDO.

She joins the indie agency following the folding of Chep Network into its Clemenger Group stablemate, Clemenger BBDO.

As a result of the consolidation’s inevitable restructure, several other senior leaders also departed, including Chep’s CCO Gavin McLeod, Clems’ CEO Dani Bassil, Clems’ CCO Adrián Flores, and Clems’ chief growth officer Anita Zanesco.

Sor was with Chep Network for nearly three years. She joined the agency in 2022 after four years with Clemenger BBDO, with other previous experience under her belt from AMV BBDO, Grey London, and Partners Andrews Aldridge.

In her new role at Howatson and Co, Sor will lead the agency’s strategic output, working closely with CEO Chris Howatson, chief media officer Sasha Smith, and chief experience officer Nicole Flinton Ferraro.

“Howie and the team continue to set the industry bar high, with their trademark combination of speed, modernity, intelligence, craft and passion,” Sor said in a media release on Thursday.

“Their restless energy is contagious, and I can’t wait to help shepherd and champion the formidable strat team at H+Co.”

According to the agency, her appointment “reinforces H+Co’s focus on intersectional creativity and the value of divergent thinking”.

“I have known Lil for many years and admired her for just as many. She’s a strategist obsessed by effectiveness. Her energy lifts the room and her values steer all to the right thing, not the popular thing. She cares fiercely,” agency boss Chris Howatson said in the release.

“All these qualities make her the perfect person to lead strategy.”

Sor takes on the position after Dom Hickey left the indie agency earlier this year. Hickey described her time at Howatson and Co as an “enormous privilege” but said she needed “to take some time to pause”.

Howatson said: “I’d like to again acknowledge Dom Hickey for her contribution to H+Co. Her contribution to culture, leadership of people and impact to the work is reflective in the agency we are today.”
