Google’s July mobile update could affect your brand’s SEO
As of July 1, Google will be penalising sites that do not load according to the Google standard for mobile devices. GMG Digital’s John Vlasakakis explains why you should care.
Google recently announced another change to its ever-evolving search ranking algorithm. As of July 2018, it will be putting site-speed under the magnifying glass, ultimately penalising slower sites down the list of Google results.

This has been in effect on desktop since 2010 and there has been talk about the potential change to mobile for a while now.
This change took place in 2010 for desktop, but as mobile-use skyrockets, Google’s long-rumoured algorithm change is finally coming.
Good article which I think showcases the importance of mobile first web design… I yearn for the day when Google starts delisting sites for not having a responsive or mobile friendly page.
Actually Google recommended using the Lighthouse performance reports in Chrome developer tools. They are using the data from those reports to fashion this new update. It will give some great insights. Time to visibility, accessibility etc. The bigger issue brands face is the mobile first index though. Many will get smashed by that update as they do not have index parity with desktop & mobile.
