Ecco attempts to break record for world’s longest catwalk

Shoe brand Ecco is attempting to break a world record today for the longest fashion catwalk ever at Sydney’s Darling Harbour.

The stunt is the conclusion of a campaign fronted by Mamamia founder Mia Freeman to recruit people to take part in the record attempt.

Update 3.38pm: Ecco has broken the record.

The idea behind the event is to show that a shoe can be both comfortable and stylish, and to introduce the new Ecco shoe, the Sculptured 65.

The current record is 2.6km, set in Turkey – Ecco is going for 2.7km.

The catwalk will be showcased on TV and also feature in an online and magazine campaign.

“This campaign is very different to the standard marketing in the shoe category – and that’s the beauty of it. We believe it’s an extremely impactful and compelling way to prove to women that ECCO shoes are both stylish and comfortable” said Kerry Boys, communications director at UM, the agency behind the campaign.
