Government campaign tackles STIs during holiday season
The Government has launched the latest phase of its national ad campaign aimed at reducing the rate of sexually transmissible infections.
The $1.40m campaign has been launched to coincide with the New Year and holiday season of parties and particularly targets young people who have unprotected sex.
The ads encourage people to talk about STIs, not be ashamed if they have it and to seek treatment.
The latest push will also target young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in outer regional and remote communities with locally-tailored messages. Links will also be provided to health services within or near those communities.
The message is the advertising is: “STIs are spreading fast – always use a condom”.
The campaign is part of the Government’s $9.84m National STI Prevention Program aimed at tackling the rise in chlamydia, HIV/AIDS, and syphilis infections.
The first phase of the national awareness campaign launched in May and June last year. It included radio, press, online and outdoor advertising.
Be nice to see a tongue in cheek follow up on this by Mitsubishi: “don’t get caught with an STi, make sure your man drives Evo”….or something….

How unfortunate for the girl who’s face is now plastered across the country with ‘STI’ written next to it.

Haha. Remember the ‘To violence against women, Australia says no’ ads? I remember rocking into work one day and seeing this new guy and walking straight up to him saying ‘Hey man, don’t I know you?’ Ahhh no. No you don’t…
