Agency hires first social media director – and announces it on Twitter
Mumbrella can reveal that Amnesia, part of the global Avenue A |Razorfish network, has become Australia’s first major digital agency to hire a social media director – and true to the medium, it announced it in a Twitter message.
Ian Lyons, currently the Communications Director of online research firm Pure Profile, will join the Microsoft-owned company in ten days’ time.
He told Mumbrella: “It’s a really exciting opportunity.”
The Tweet read: “@amnesiagroup @Razorfish welcomes @ianlyons, new Social Media Director for Australia.”
Lyons told Mumbrella: “My job is goign to be focusing the agency’s effort into helping clients present a human face to the world, and to do it in a scaleable way.
“I’m sure every CEO would like to have a relationship with every customer, but that’s impossible. But with social media, you can create conversations.”
“Social media is a part of everything we do.”
Amnesia – which is the current AdNews Interactive Agency of the Year and shortlisted for their Media Agency of the year – has a strong claim to being Australia’s leading social media agency. More than 20 of its staff are on Twitter, and its frequently updated blog is the only site from a mainstream digital agency to sit in the top 50 marketing blogs ranking.
The agency was founded in 1998.
Hasn’t Avenue A | Razorfish renamed it self to just Razorfish?
