Australian Unity – for dull bloggers everywhere.
Now Dr Mumbo is sure that “Zoe” is a thoroughly nice person, but based on this ad by Spinach for Australian Unity, she’s not exactly the world’s most compelling blogger.
Hell, she’s so dull, she’s not even Carrie Bradshaw.
I just love that she is getting a reimbursement for a health expense (i.e. a tangible expense she has already incurred) and instead of offsetting that expense, she blows it on shoes. Brilliant! Why have health insurance at all?
I’m sure the 1-dimensional “women-who-omg-love-shoes” demographic that they seem to think exists will be all over this health insurance.

I love an advert that makes me laugh.
Only – I must admit I was laughing at it, not with it !
You can see the client breifing the agency now….
“We want to do social media…”
Then after the second creative review…
“Can we do social media on TV”
Then after a delicate discussion with the incompetent client, trying to help them tell the CEO …tv is not social media..
“What about blogs….they are social media right….put one of those on tv”
Finally the client approves the “creative” – the definition of which has been stretched almost as far as the brown cardigans being worn by the AU ‘folk’
>>>> Either the advert is written for the current customers of AU, or it represents the culture of the company….do they do claims processing via mobile phone…wow cool stuff. But then what was she claiming for….health insurance. or flood damage, or something else.
Seriously – its more like an advert for the girl in the ad – where is the brand? I hope they own zoe.com.au

Who signs their blog posts of with their name? I think Zoe may have been the girl who hosted one of those dumb arse “ring up” late night quiz/game shows.

hahaha.. From some reason I read that headline as: ‘Australian Unity – for dole bludgers everywhere’.

Cringe……even worse than the 60 sec “brand” ad……can we look forward to several more vignettes like this? I hope not.

Yes, but you gotta admit that “I like my money where I can see it.” is an evocative line.

I’ve found Zoe’s blog –
http://www.simpleuseful.com.au/Pages/home.aspx
So, a fake blog about ‘Zoe’ complete with amusing anecdotes about her health insurance.
I wonder what will happen next; perhaps she’ll be bankrupted when her claim is rejected, and, left with a pair of shoes she can’t afford, her life goes into a spiral of depression and despair.

the whole blog thing adds no value and just distracts from what could have been a nice idea:
zoe sitting around with her friends and AU sends a text to say your money has been transferred and she gets up and heads off for some retail therapy……or takes her friends to go and get pissed at the nearest pub on AU’s money, now that’s the sort of word of mouth money can’t buy

Can I suggest that it would be much better showing her claiming on her Health Insurance after the heel breaks snapping her angle, And then you could show her purchasing sensible shoes. Brilliant!
Hardly an engaging ad

Good god that is embarrassing, no doubt those in charge are Carrie Bradshaw wannabe’s. Now all they need is to payout for Botox…
