Australia’s Cannes young Lions are revealed

The six young Australians to represent the country at this year’s Young Lions contest at Cannes have been revealed. They are:

  • Media: Lauren Cassar from Bellamy Hayden and Tristan Burrell from Universal McCann;
  • Print: Garret Fitzgerald and Neil Walshe from BMF;
  • Cyber: Andrew Fergusson and Natalie Cheng from Tequila

The Australian teams will compete against other representatives from all over the world for a Gold Medal at the Cannes Lions Festival, which takes place at the end of June.

News Ltd – the local representative of the Cannes Lions – is paying for the six to receive registation for the event along with airfares and accommodation. Young Lions also get to see exclusive masterclasses from some of the biggest names in the industry. Last year, a major highlight of the Young Lions programme was a bravura presentation from David Droga, the Aussie creative, now based in New York, who is the most awarded creative in the history of the Lions.

Garth Agius, Group Director of Marketing: Advertising and Integration, at News Ltd said: “The Young Lions program is a terrific opportunity to mix with the best in a world-wide competition. Winning a Young Lions has been known to have a significant impact on the career of up-and-coming talent.

In order to win their places, the young creatives worked on briefs featuring News Ltd brands, before finalists took part in a 24 hour challenge.
